Department of English Language and Comparative Typology

In comparative linguistics, the study and comparative typological analysis of different languages ​​has a special place, and the comparative study of their linguistic features is one of the important issues of comparative typological linguistics. The growing international relations of independent Tajikistan, the orders and instructions of the head of state and government of the Republic of Tajikistan on the training of linguists, translators and interpreters forced the leadership of the TNU and the faculty to create a specialized department of  English in 2014.Начало формы

         According to the order of the rector of the National University of Tajikistan dated June 4, 2014, No. 161-09, a specialized department of the English language began to function on the basis of the Department of Foreign Languages ​​of the Faculty of Asian and European Languages. According to the order of the rector of the National University of Tajikistan dated January 28, 2017, No. 07, the name was changed to the Department of English and Comparative Typology. – The head of the department was appointed candidate of philological sciences, associate professor Navruzshoev Bakhridin Khusholovich.

         The activity of this department is to train specialists in the specialty 1-21060102 – Modern foreign languages, which corresponds to the State classifier of directions and specialties of the Republic of Tajikistan, approved by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. Under No. 349 of June 30, 2007. Specialist by profession 1-21060102 – Modern foreign languages ​​- Linguist. Translator (from English into Tajik and from Tajik into English) can perform the following types of professional activities translator (from English into Tajik and from Tajik into English);

  • translator (from English into Tajik and from Tajik into English;
  • referent translator (from English into Tajik and from Tajik into English);
  • expert;
  • industry consultant;
  • linguist.

         As well as a master’s degree – Linguist. Translator (from English into Tajik and from Tajik into English) (duration of study 2 years), PhD department – 6D021000 – Foreign Philology, 6D020500 – Comparative and historical linguistics, comparative linguistics and typological linguistics.

         The teachers of this department are engaged in the study of important issues in the study of foreign languages, translation and its problems, the typological comparison of languages, the collection of information about the history, culture and economic relations of the English-speaking countries of the world. Some of the results of their scientific research have been published in the form of books, manuals and teaching aids.

         There are 16 (15 people, 1 professor, 5 associate professors, 3 senior lecturers, 7 assistants) teachers in the department. All teachers stuff, in addition to educational activities, are engaged in research and discussion of various scientific topics.

         In terms of the preparation of programs, teaching aids and textbooks, specific work has been completed, this year subject and work programs in the subjects “Practice of oral and written speech”, “History and geography of the country under study”, programs of the Lexicology series: “Simultaneous translation”, “ Modern English Literature”, “Lexicography”, “History of the English Language”, “Text Editing”, “Stylistics and Culture of Speech”, “Actual Issues of Western Philology”, “Theoretical Grammar”, “Theory and Practice of the English Language”. Translation”, “Practical grammar of the English language”, “Folklore and ethnology of the studied country”, as well as programs and visual aids for the lesson “History and geography of the studied country” have been prepared and are used in the educational process.

         In the current conditions, professors of the department conduct research in one main area, the content of which is compatible with the course of study:

• comparative study of the characteristics of the English and Tajik languages, history, literature and geography of the English-speaking countries;

• lexical, phraseological, syntactic features of the Tajik and English languages ​​are studied on the basis of literary materials, mass media and compared with mass media materials published in English;

 • Linguistic features of fiction and various journalistic genres are studied and discussed in comparison from a linguistic point of view.

Abdusalom Mamadnazarov

Professor of the Department of English and Comparative Typology

(14.04.48), Doctor of Philology, professor, translator, lexicographer, Honored worker of Tajikistan

Graduate of the Dushanbe Pedagogical Institute (1970). From 1972-1981 he was a lecturer at the TSU English Language Department, 1982-1984 a postgraduate student, 1986-1992 associate professor of the English Language Department. From September 2014 professor of the Department of English and Comparative Typology of the Faculty of Asian Languages. A.Mamadnazarov defended his PhD thesis at the Tajik University in 1986. In 2013 he defended his doctoral dissertation at the Tajik National University and received the degree of Doctor of Philology. He received his professorship in 2016.

From 1993-94 he was a visiting professor at the University of British Columbia, Canada. He has published more than 180 printed works, including 25 monographs and teaching aids. Professor A. Mamadnazarov participated and made a speech at international conferences out of the country.

In 2000 he completed a research on “Higher education system in the USA” at Indiana University, Bloomington and John Hopkins University.

He translated directly from English into Tajik and or from Tajik into English more than 20 books on history and culture. 

Navruzshoev Bahridin Khusholovich 

(19.08.1969) candidate of philological sciences, Linguist, Translator, Excellence in Education of Tajikistan (2014)

         In 1993, the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​of the Sh. He graduated from Dushanbe. In 1993-1995, he was an assistant at the Department of English at TNU. 1995-1997 – assistant of the foreign language department of the Faculty of Journalism and Translation of TNU. 1997-1998 – English translator and document writer, joint corporation of Tajikistan – Germany “KHIMA”. 1998-2011 – senior teacher of the Department of Foreign Languages, faculty of Journalism, of TNU. 2009-2011 – applicant of the Department of Stylistics and Literary Editing of the Faculty of Journalism TNU. 2012 – 2014 – Head of the Department of Foreign Languages ​​of the Faculty of Journalism. From 2014 till present – the head of the department of English language and Comparative Typology of the faculty of Asian and European Languages ​​ of TNU. In 2011, he defended his candidacy thesis. He published more than 49 articles, including 6 educational and scientific manuals. He has reported at several international conferences.

Abdulfayzov Saidnurudin

Associate Professor of the Department of English Language and Comparative Typology

He was born on January 3, 1953 in the village Mazori Sulton Khovaling district Republic of Tajikistan. In 1972 entered the State Pedagogical Institute by T.G.Shevchenko (today’s SPUD by S. Ayni) faculty of Foreign Languages, English Department and graduated from the mentioned institute successfully and was sent to Vose district by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan. From 1976 to 1983 worked as a teacher at school №17 named after G. Dimitrov. From 1983-1992 he worked as electrician in KUMO Ministry of water resources of the RT. From 1994 till 1998 worked as the worker and beekeeper in sovkhoz “Khovaling-1”. From 1998 till 2002 he worked as the translator in Tajik-British venture “Darvaz”. From the 1.08.2002 till 2004 he was assistant of the department of international relations historical faculty TNU. From 2004 till 2011 he was senior teacher of the faculty of p international relations. From 2011 till 2013 he worked as the Head of the department of foreign languages international relations’ faculty. From 2015 till resent he works as assistant professorin the Department of English Language and Comparative Typology, faculty of Asian and European Languages, Tajik National University. On the 14th of November 2013 he defensed his dissertation under the title of “ Lexica-Semantic analyses of diplomatic terminology in Tajik language”. From 2015 till present he is assistant professor of the Department of English Language and Comparative Typology, faculty of Asian and European Languages, Tajik National University.

Yearly makes a speech at University, Republican, International Conferences and methodical seminars. During his activities he wrote more than 25 scientific articles and 5 exercise books which have been published. he is an Excellent of Education of Science of Tajikistan Republic.

Dadadzhanova Inoyat Boirovna

Associate Professor of the Department of English Language and Comparative Typology

Dadadzhanova Inoyat Boirovna was born on June 7, 1961 in the city of Konibodom, Leninabad oblast (now Sughd oblast) of the Republic of Tajikistan in the intellegent family. In 1978, she graduated from the secondary school No. 7 named after Y.A. Gagarin in Konibodom, and entered the Dushanbe State Pedagogical Institute named after T.G. Shevchenko (now the Tajik State Pedagogical University named after S. Aini) the Faculty of Foreign Languages, English Department and graduated from the mentioned Institute in 1982. In 1982, she started her career as a teacher in Kindergarten No. 54 in Dushanbe. From 1984 to 2004, she worked as a teacher in secondary schools in Dushanbe. From 2004 until now, she worked as a teacher, Senior teacher and Head of the Foreign Languages Department in the Higher schools of the Republic of Tajikistan. In February 2011, she defended her Candidate’s thesis on the topic “The Comparative Analysis of the Demographic Terms in the English and Tajik languages”. Candidate of Philological Sciences, author of 1 monograph, scientific works and more than 70 scientific articles. In March 2012, she participated in the 17th women’s conference in Ankara. With the scientific-cultural program “Dialogue of Asia and Europe” she had business trips to the cities of Istanbul, Kunia and Bursa of the Republic of Turkey. In 2015, she was awarded the title “Excellence of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan”. Currently, she works as an Associate Professor of the Department of English Language and Comparative Typology at the Faculty of Asian and European Languages at the Tajik National University. Married, has 3 children.

Sobirova Ugulbi Saduloevna

Seniorteacherof the Department of English Language and Comparative Typology

was born on February 1, 1958 in Kulob, Republic of Tajikistan. In 1975 entered the State Pedagogical Institute by T.G. Shevchenko (today’s SPUD by S. Ayni) faculty of Foreign Languages, English Department and graduated from the mentioned institute successfully and was sent to Kulob State University by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan. From 1979 to 2013 worked as a teacher, senior teacher, the Head of English Department and at the same time worked as a translator in the foreign organization “VASSCO” from 2000-2003. From 2013 till present she works as a senior teacher in the Department of English Language and Comparative Typology, faculty of Asian and European Languages, Tajik National University. From 2022-2023 postgraduate student.  U. Sobirova defended her PhD thesis at the Tajik University in 2023 on the theme “The Role and Place of Homonyms in Different Structural Languages (on the base of explanatory and bilingual of English-Tajik, Tajik-English dictionaries”. She has published more than 25 printed works including 5 teaching aids. Yearly makes a speech at University, Republican, International Conferences and methodical seminars.  She is an Excellent worker of Education and Science of Tajik Republic.

Nazarova Muhabbat Rahmonqulovna

         Senior teacher of the Department of English and Comparative typology

         She was born on October 14, 1979 in Baljuvon district, Khatlon region, Republic of Tajikistan. In 2002 entered Kulob State University named after Abuabdulloh Rudaki, faculty of English philology and graduated from the mentioned University in 2007 was sent to Comprehensive school №8 Baljuvon District by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan. From 2007 to 2009 worked as an English teacher at school №8, Baljuvon district. In 2009-2011 worked as an assistant of the Department of foreign languages, Kulob State University named after Abuabdulloh Rudaki. In 2011 entered post graduate study of Tajik National University and finished it in 2014. In 2016 defended her dissertation on the theme “The peculiarities of structure and meaning of simple one-member sentences in Tajik and English languages. Yearly she writes articles and talks dealing with this theme and gives talk at the Republican and International Conferences, scientific and methodical seminars. From 2014 to 2019 she worked as an assistant and senior teacher of the Department of English language and Comparative Typology. 2019-2022 was the Head of the foreign languages Department, Tajik State Institute of Culture and Arts named after Mirzo Tursunzoda. From 2022 she works as a senior teacher of the Department of English language and Comparative Typology TNU.   

  

Diyorov Shohi Jahon Abdusamehovich

  Assistant professor of the Department of English and Comparative typology

He was born on January 21, 1991 in Panjakent district, Sog’d region of the Republic of Tajikistan. He went to the secondary school №19 named after Mirzo Tursunzade in 1998, and left that school in 2009. After leaving school, he entered to the faculty of journalism, in Tajik National University (hereinafter TNU) and in 2014 graduated from above-mentioned university. He started working his teaching career at TNU in October 2014. He has got more than 15 scientific and public articles and one manual. He is independent researcher of the department of English and comparative typology of the faculty of Asian and European languages right now. He is doing his researching work on the theme of “Lexicographical analysis and structural principles of Tajik-English dictionaries (2000-2005)” for gaining degree of candidate of philological sciences. He has been to India to attend in International training and participated dynamically in it. He has several international certificates such as “Methodology of teaching English”, “Human Resourse Development”. At the moment, he is assistant professor of the department of English and comparative typology. 

Kamoli Nilufari Barot

         Assistant professor of the Department of English and comparative typology

Was born in 1983 in Dushanbe. In 1989 I went to the Secondary School № 53 and in 1999 finished the above school. In the same year she entered to the State Pedagogical University after name S. Ayni (former Q. Juraev) joined at the faculty of English Language and in 2004 graduated from the university. Since 2007 she has been a teacher of Tajik National University at first at the university-wide department, then from 2012 she has been working at the department of English and Comparative Typology of faculty of the Asian and European Languages in Tajik National University. From 2017 she has been master of Department of the History Language and Comparative Typology of Tajik National University. Her scientific work under the name «Vocabulary of Traditional Clothes in Tajik and English Languages based on the material (the novel of J, Ikromi «The Fire Girl» and the novel of M. Mitchell «Gone the Wind». Participates annually at the scientific conferences and at the methodological seminars. She wrote several scientific articles and 4 based on her research work.

Hakimova Savlatbi Shermadovna

         Assistant professor of the Department of English and Comparative typology

Assistent was born on March 24, 1988 in Sarishashma, Republic of Tajikistan. In 2005 entered the State Pedagogical Institute by S. Ayni faculty of Foreign Languages, English Department and graduated from the mentioned institute successfully and was sent to Sarichashma  boarding school  by the Ministry of Education and Science of  the Republic of Tajikistan. From 2010 to 2014 worked as a teacher.From 2014 till present she works as an assistant  in the Department of English Language and Comparative Typology, faculty of Asian and European Languages, Tajik National University.From 2014 as an assistant she works on        Yearly makes a speech at University, Republican, International Conferences and methodical seminars.

Mahmudzoda Mahmudjon bobojon

 Assistant professor of the Department of English and Comparative typology

         He was born on May 16, 1995 in Vahdat, city of the Republic of Tajikistan. He went to the secondary school №107 in 2002, and left that school in 2012. After leaving school, he entered to the faculty of orientalist, in Islamic institute of the Republic of Tajikistan and in 2016 graduated from above-mentioned institute. After completing his bachelor’s degree, he submitted his documents to the National University of the Republic of Tajikistan for master’s degree in modern foreign languages and graduated in 2018.  He started working his teaching career at TNU in October 2019. He has got more than 3 scientific and public articles and one manual. He is independent researcher of the department of English and comparative typology of the faculty of Asian and European languages right now. He is doing his researching work on the theme of “Emphatic parts of sentences in Tajik and English languages” for gaining degree of candidate of philological sciences. At the moment, he is assistant professor of the department of English and comparative typology. 

Muhiddinzoda Sadafmoh Nuriddin

         Assistant professor of the Department of English and Comparative typology

was born on September 28, 1993 in Kulob Republic of Tajikistan. In 2011, entered to the Kulob state university named after Abuabdulloh Rudaki the Faculty of Foreign languages English Department and successfully graduated there in 2015. In 2015, enrolled in the master’s degree in Anantapur, India, and graduated in 2017. In the same year, returned to her homeland and worked as an assistant in DDK. In 2019, entered to PhD department to the Tajik National University and graduated in 2022. From 2019 till present works in the Department of English and Comparative Typology of the Faculty of Asian and European Languages. She is working on the topic “Analysis of the structure-meaning and syntactic functions of indefinite pronouns in English and Tajik languages” and is almost ready for defense. She has published four scientific articles during her career.

Boboev Loiq Samievich

 Assistant professor of the Department of English and Comparative typology

         He was born on August 3, 1998, in Varzob district. In 2005, he went to secondary school №30 in Firdavsi district of Dushanbe city and finished in 2016. Same year, through the national testing center under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, he entered the Faculty of Asian and European Languages of the Tajik National University, specializing in 21060101 (English-Tajik), and graduated in 2020. After completing the bachelor’s degree, he entered the master’s degree program in the specialty 21060110 (English-Tajik) of this faculty, and in 2021 he graduated with honors from the Tajik National University. On February 11, 2022, he started working as a laboratory assistant at the Department of English Language and Comparative Typology, Faculty of Asian and European Languages, TNU. On September 1, 2023, he has started his teaching career at Tajik National University. He has more than two scientific-public articles. Awarded with the certificate of “Youth Union of Tajikistan.” He is doing his research work on the theme “Lexical features of metaphor translation from English into Tajik languages” to gain a degree as a candidate in the philological sciences. At the moment, he is an assistant professor in the department of English and comparative typology.
